How to Care for Your Ona Polo Equipment

🛡️ Keep performance high, season after season

At Ona Polo, we design every piece to go the distance—equipment that performs reliably chukka after chukka. We believe in quality that lasts, not disposable gear. Supporting our community in extending the life of each product is part of our ethos: with just a few simple habits, your Ona gear will stay in top condition and ready for the next match.

1 | Gloves — Wash Gently, Dry Properly

Wash by hand:

  • Fill a basin with lukewarm water and a drop of mild detergent or neutral soap.
  • Immerse the gloves and gently rub the palm and finger areas to lift sweat and dirt.
  • Rinse well until the water runs clear.
  • Avoid machine washing, bleach, and harsh cleaners—they damage both fibres and leather.

Dry without heat:

  • Press gently between towels to remove excess water. Do not wring.
  • Lay flat or hang to dry in a shaded, ventilated area—never under direct sunlight or near heat sources.

After play — let them breathe:

Many players hang their gloves from a rope in the car boot—a simple trick that keeps them fresh and functional.

Reshape gloves immediately after use.

Avoid tossing them back into your kit bag while damp.

2 | Elbow Pads

Our elbow pads are treated with Polygiene®, a permanent odour-control technology that inhibits bacterial growth. While this reduces odour and extends freshness, occasional cleaning still helps extend the life of the product:

  • Hand-wash gently in lukewarm water with mild soap.
  • Rinse thoroughly and air-dry in the shade.
  • Avoid bleach, softeners, tumble dryers or dry-cleaning.

Salt, sweat, and grime can break down neoprene and elastic materials over time. Clean now and  they will protect you over a few seasons.

3 | Polo Pants — Keep Them Sharp

Quick-action soak:
After each match, soak your trousers in lukewarm water with soap to loosen stains from saddle rub or boots.

Machine wash (30 °C):

  • Use a normal cycle at 30 °C, and opt for mild detergent.
  • Avoid whiteners, bleach, and tumble dryers—they degrade technical fabrics and stitching.

Tough marks?
Use a soft-bristle brush and soap before washing to gently remove surface dirt.

Dry smart:

Sunlight can help whiten whites, but avoid long, intense exposure.

Hang to dry on a rope or hanger. The quick-dry fabric releases moisture fast.

4 | Eyewear — Keep Vision Crystal Clear

Match after match, lenses pick up sweat, dust, and grease. Keeping them clean ensures clear vision and protects coatings from damage.

Everyday tip:
Carry a pack of lens wipes in your kit bag—there are many great brands available and they’re ideal for quick cleaning between chukkas.

Deeper clean:
When grease builds up:

Shake off excess water and dry with the Ona eyewear pouch included with your product—it’s designed to clean without scratching.time. Clean now and  they will protect you over a few seasons.

Apply a single drop of dishwashing detergent and a splash of water directly to the lens.

With your thumb and middle finger, gently rub both sides of the lens with the soapy solution.

Rinse thoroughly.
