Why do polo players need specialized eyewear?
Polo is one of the few sports where players face the genuine risk of being struck by a high-speed ball or mallet — a potentially serious eye injury that standard eyewear simply isn’t built to withstand. Beyond impact protection, the sport also demands lenses that handle sun, wind, and debris at speed, making purpose-built eyewear an essential piece of kit, not an accessory.
Does Ona® offer prescription polo eyewear?
Yes. The Ona® VCP21 and Aelox frames accept custom prescription lenses for full optical clarity with impact protection. Look for VCP21 RX and AELOX RX on our eyewear section.
What lens technologies are available?
Ona® offers several lens options. Our non-prescription lenses are built with IMPACTO Zeiss technology, delivering exceptional clarity and impact protection. For those who need vision correction, our prescription lenses are powered by MAXIMUS — featuring a single-architecture design where the prescription is embedded directly into the lens. We also offer photochromic lenses in our AELOX PH style, plus high contrast pink and clear lens options across other styles.
Are Ona® lenses impact-resistant?
Yes. Ona® eyewear is fitted with ZEISS Impacto polycarbonate shield lenses, one of the most impact-resistant lens materials available and a trusted standard in safety and sports eyewear. Offering excellent scratch resistance and 100% UV protection, these lenses are built to perform — with select styles meeting US military anti-ballistic standards.
How do I clean and care for my Ona® lenses?
To keep your lenses in top condition, clean them with a specialist lens wipe or a small drop of mild detergent with warm water, then dry with a microfibre cloth. Avoid paper towels, clothing, or abrasive materials, as these can scratch the lens surface over time. We recommend our premium microfibre cloths, designed specifically for high-performance lenses.
