The superfine Merino Wool construction is naturally soft against the skin — no itch, no irritation — with the thermal regulation, moisture management and odour resistance that make Merino Wool the natural choice for women who play, ride and stay active. Three colours — Blossom, Mist and Lago — take their names from the natural world of Patagonia. Named after the Selk’nam — one of the most resilient indigenous cultures of the southern Americas, whose women were the makers and keepers of warmth — Selknam is the most intimate expression of the Ona Polo story.

Care
- Wool cycle in a mesh garment bag — recommended for machine washing
- Or handwash in lukewarm water using a specialist wool detergent (e.g. Woolite or similar)
- Do not wring — gently press out water and lay flat to dry
- Do not tumble dry
- Do not bleach
- Cool iron on reverse if required
- Store folded — do not hang, as Merino Wool can stretch on a hanger over time

Yes. Selknam is a base layer first — designed to sit next to the skin as your first layer under polo whites or riding gear. It also works well for any outdoor sport or activity in chilly conditions, and is relaxed enough to wear as a standalone top through the rest of the day.
What is it made from?
Selknam is made from 67% Merino Wool, 22% Polyamide and 11% Elastane. It uses a non-superwash Merino Wool — a finer, softer fibre than the superwash grade used in Howsh and Quillah, which gives it exceptional softness against the skin. The fabric weighs 160g.
How should it fit?
Selknam is close-fitting — designed to sit next to the skin as a base layer, in the same way as Howsh and Quillah. The difference is the crew neck rather than a quarter-zip. It should feel comfortable and close without restricting movement. If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up.
Why does it need more careful washing than Howsh or Quillah?
Selknam uses a non-superwash Merino Wool — a finer, softer fibre that has not been chemically treated for machine washing. We recommend a wool cycle in a mesh garment bag, or handwashing in lukewarm water with a specialist wool detergent. Lay flat to dry.
Why is it called Selknam?
Selknam is the authentic name of the Ona people — the indigenous community of Tierra del Fuego after whom Ona Polo takes its name. The women of the Selk’nam community were its living core: the makers, the gatherers, the keepers of knowledge and warmth. For the women’s crew neck base layer, the name is the deepest possible tribute.
